January Fishing Report

2020 Is Going To Be A Big Year For Pocket Change!

We have some exciting news here at Pocket Change. We've added another boat to the fleet opening up more inshore and nearshore options.

We are now running a 22ft Sportcraft powered with a brand new Suzuki 175 hp motor. The boat has a custom stereo, Simrad electronics, and a beautiful custom wrap featuring our sponsors.

It's available for trips up to 9 miles out. Perfect for nearshore grouper, kingfish, tarpon, triple tail, as well as reds, snook, trout, and all popular inshore species.

We can carry up to 6 passengers. This opens the door for hosting larger groups using multiple boats.

Now is a great time to book a trip as we have been on a stellar Redfish bite with most fish being way overslot. Multiple fish of 34"-41" have been landed in the last few weeks.

The snook are starting to show up in their typical winter haunts and the docks and canals are firing up with sheepshead, blackdrum, trout, slot Redfish as well as Jack's and snapper.

In the bay we have been getting tripletail, red and gag grouper, and mackerel. The tripletail are a species we have been targeting with good success.

A freelined shrimp or greenback at crab buoy's and range markers has been the trick. Fishing for them should be steady for the next few months.

Hopefully the FWC will open up trout, snook, and reds this spring. Until then it's been great catch and release action. The trout are starting to devour soft bodied jigs like the HighWater Lures Get'em shad. Pick colors according to water clarity. Darker and more bold for wind churned muddy waters and light and natural colors for the extreme clear water we can get this time of year.

The Redfish are hitting everything. Live bait, cut bait, and lures like a gulp shrimp or 1/4 oz gold spoon. Snook are responding to live whitebait and cut baits as well.

Book a trip today. We have 3 captains and 4 boats and multiple first mates to meet all your fishing needs.

We look forward to taking you on your next fishing adventure.
